My Story
Hi, I'm Lee
Founder of Greenfoot Totes
Greenfoot Totes was born from two simple ideas: my love for the beautiful Colorado outdoors and my belief that moving doesn't have to create so much waste.
I've always appreciated Colorado's incredible natural beauty and wanted to do my small part to help preserve it. But there's another side to this story, and it comes from a lot of personal experience.
I've moved more than 20 times in my life.
And my experience with moving didn't stop there. I've owned a pickup truck for a long time, and as anyone who owns a truck knows, you don't just own a pickup. Apparently, you also own a small, unpaid moving company for your friends and family. So between my own moves and lending a hand with plenty of others, I've spent more time packing, loading, hauling, and unloading than I care to count.
Like a lot of people, every time a move came around, I would collect whatever extra cardboard boxes I could find from stores, friends, work, or wherever else I could get them. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that not every box is made for moving. Over the years, I had valuable and sentimental belongings damaged or ruined because they were packed into random cardboard boxes that simply weren't strong enough to protect the things that mattered to me.
And then there was everything left behind after the move: piles of cardboard, rolls of tape, broken-down boxes, and another big cleanup project when you're already exhausted from moving.
I kept thinking, there has to be a better way.
The idea for Greenfoot Totes really took shape at home. While helping move my wife's office into our home, and at the same time cleaning and organizing our own house, I invested in some reusable totes.
I quickly saw how much easier they made the entire process. There were no boxes to hunt down, build, tape, worry about holding up, or break down afterward. The totes were sturdy, convenient, reusable, and simply made moving and organizing easier.
But my wife was the one who saw something bigger.
After seeing how well the totes worked for us, she suggested that I turn the idea into a business. What had started as a practical solution for our own home suddenly became something more. If this approach made moving easier for us, why couldn't it do the same for other families, businesses, and people going through a move or organizing project?
That simple recommendation from my wife planted the seed for Greenfoot Totes.
Today, Greenfoot Totes is about helping others make moving simpler, cleaner, and more efficient while reducing unnecessary waste. Whether you're moving across town, relocating an office, renovating, or just getting organized, our goal is to help you protect what matters, save time and money, and spend less time dealing with boxes so you can spend more time moving forward.
For me, Greenfoot Totes brings together more than 20 moves' worth of personal experience, countless hours helping others move, my wife's encouragement to turn a better way of moving into a business, and my love for the beautiful outdoors that inspired the Greenfoot name and mission.
It's about taking some of the hassle and waste out of moving, helping people protect the things that matter to them, and doing our small part to preserve the beauty around us.
Because sometimes a better way of doing something starts with a simple idea at home.
